Our Veterinarians

Pimpama City Vet - Dr Kate Heathwood

Dr Kate Heathwood

Senior Veterinarian BVSc

Dr Kate graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013.  She started her career working in our Canungra clinic as a mixed practice vet and after 4 and a half years, she left us for a brief stint to work at the University Teaching Clinic in Dayboro, QLD (her home town).

In early 2021 she returned to our practice to become the lead veterinarian at our Pimpama City clinic where she now enjoys working as a small animal clinician.

In her free time Kate enjoys camping, target shooting and spending time with her partner Justin and their menagerie of animals – 2 dogs, a cat, 2 birds and 3 fish!

Dr Alaric Martell

Veterinarian BVSc

Dr Alaric graduated from the University of Queensland in 2021. Since graduating, he has been lucky enough to work and live on the Gold Coast as a small animal veterinarian.

Alaric joined our team in 2023 and splits his time between Pimpama Veterinary Surgery and Yarrabilba Veterinary Hospital. Alaric enjoys working with pet parents to achieve the best quality of care that is right for each patient and their family.

When not at the clinic, he can be found at the gym, in the surf or listening to music.

Our Support Staff

Pimpama City Vet - Sarah Brook

Sarah

Practice Manager/Veterinary Nurse

Sarah joined our Pimpama City clinic in 2020, having obtained her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2018. Initially working as an Equine nurse, she made the move to small animal practice and currently works as our senior receptionist, helping out the nursing team when required.

Sarah enjoys all aspects of her role, especially the puppy cuddles and supporting all of our amazing Pimpama clients.

When she isn’t at work, she can usually be found spending time with her family and her maniacal, naughty Golden Retriever, Fisher.

Pimpama City Vet - Kylie Graf

Kylie

Receptionist/Veterinary Nurse

Kylie’s lifelong passion for animals saw her join the animal care profession in 2019 when she started working as a kennel attendant in a busy veterinary emergency clinic. Having gained a Certificate II in Animal Studies, Kylie then moved to a reception role. She joined our practice group in 2021 where she initially worked at the Tamborine Mountain clinic before being asked to join the team at Pimpama City

Now having completed her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, and recently gotten married, Kylie owns 4 dogs – a German Shepherd, a Kelpie, a Border Collie X and a Husky X. She definitely is no stranger to energetic, boisterous breeds and loves the craziness

Veterinary Nurse Renee - PCVS

Renee

Veterinary Nurse

Renee has always wanted to work with animals, a passion that began at 15 years old when she started working at her friend’s boarding kennel on Tamborine Mountain. She went on to complete her Certificate III in Companion Animal Services while working as a trail guide at Thunderbird Park.

After spending time in Canada, Renee returned to Australia and was offered a traineeship for Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, which she successfully completed in 2023. Since then, she has gained experience in both nursing and reception roles.

Renee joined the Pimpama City team in early 2025 as a Saturday nurse and has since transitioned into a full-time position. At home, she has a liver spot Dalmatian named Macey.

Siarna PVC

Siarna

Animal Attendant
Siarna’s passion for helping animals started at a young age, growing up surrounded by pets, where her interest in the Veterinary field first developed. She is in her second year of a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology and has a strong interest in working with both small and large animals.
She completed her first-year placement at Pimpama City Veterinary Surgery and was offered a position in early 2026. Alongside her studies, Siarna enjoys riding her horse, which has helped strengthen her hands on experience with animals. She values spending quality time with her friends and family, including her three beloved cats.
